As an American expat living in Prague, CZ this exhibition is especially exciting! In a venue that takes her a bit closer to home, April Popko will present a variety of unique paintings including pieces from her collection, Between Two Worlds. This specific series is an abstract representation of connecting the gaps which were thought to have previously existed—linking countries, communities, genders, lifestyles, cultures, languages, and even the space between heaven and earth.

We are all connected through vibrational energies. What we do and say becomes part of our realities, affecting everything and everyone. Understanding the roles we play in life is essential to learning what our purpose is and how and why we are all connected. Living abroad, I needed to communicate in a complex, foreign world, and yet, in this diverse, “global community” I was searching—between language barriers, cultural differences and questions around what I could contribute to society by being here. Through art, I reinvented myself to express what I needed the outside world to understand. In this transformative process, I discovered fearlessness and, unexpectedly, a massive sense of connection. My art became the medium in which I could communicate my energy. I aim to bring viewers together through my art so that they too find their purpose, their connection, and their understanding of themselves as an essential part of the universe. |
