APRIL POPKO
WEIGHTLESS December 4, 2024 through February, 2025 Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: January 16, 18:00 Tower Park Praha— Žižkov Tower Mahlerovy sady 1, Praha 3, 13000 |
Popko’s inspiration from natural elements - by using, namely, metallics - support her strong interest in quantum physics, vibrational frequencies, energy transfer, and multi-dimensionality. Many paintings in this exhibition have been created by using aluminum foil media in combination with acrylic paint. The canvas physically reflects light, mirroring reality and illuminating the limitless possibilities of what is beyond. The reflective nature and use of metallics (including gold and silver in many paintings), highlight treasures from two worlds – earth and space.
Aluminum, as a spiritual symbol of resilience, transformation, adaptability, and conductivity, create light and warmth. Its malleability reminds us that we too, can bend without breaking and have the ability to change our circumstances without having it break us. As a lightweight metal, the use of aluminum, paired with angel wing paintings, explore the concept of weightlessness between realms. Both remind us that we can soar to great heights, and be free from the weight of the world.
