Mayor, Pavel Novotny, awarded Medals of Honor to selected laureates from the community for their unique contributions. It is the highest award a Mayor can give after Honorary Citizenship (which was awarded to a former Mayor who had served for 16 years!). As the 1st American to ever receive this award, April Popko is recognized among this Czech community for her contributions in spreading the good name of the district.

"I extend a BIG THANK YOU to Mr. Mayor, Pavel Novotny, the Deputy Mayor, the Town Hall team, my lovely neighbors, my supportive family and to everyone who welcomes me to Prague. It is a great honor to be the 1st American to receive this. I love Řeporyje and I count my lucky stars to live here. The energy is beautiful and the people are amazing. Thank you to everyone at ECHO Magazine too. Congratulations to ALL the laureates and also to Lenka Fialova for winning a seat in the Mayor's office (as the 1st set of siblings in history to sit at the same table)! Let's continue to make history here! I am very grateful to you all for encouraging me every step of the way."--April Popko

April Popko's Rainbow Stairs featured on the cover of Řeporyjské ECHO magazine.
"I am inspired by nature. Rainbows are cheerful and bright. They give a positive vibe and that's the atmosphere I hope to always create. I use color every day in my atelier and so it was a natural extension of what I do. It does make walking up the hill more pleasant and easy now!" - April Popko CLICK HERE for the magazine press page. |
