Bitcoin Artwork

Picture
At first glance, my Bitcoin paintings don’t seem like typical Bitcoin art most people are used to. That’s partly why they are drawn to it. These paintings aren’t the usual technical, digital illustrations, but rather texturized abstract paintings with symbolism that reflects Bitcoin…

All my Bitcoin pieces have stories behind them that connect to it, and yet people outside the Bitcoin community can appreciate them as beautiful paintings to enjoy in the home or work space. They are not as obvious to the untrained eye, and so it can lead to curiosity/learning the deeper meanings behind the artwork if they so desire.
My Bitcoin Paintings
I paint so I don’t have to explain my thoughts… but as I’ve experienced, people want to know about my ideas as I paint each piece. Here are a few descriptions of my Bitcoin artwork, the symbolism, meaning, and purpose.  Below you may also read more on my Bitcoin Art Journey.

My Bitcoin Art Journey

For many years, my dear friend was encouraging me to learn about Bitcoin. I didn't understand it. It felt like a foreign language to me, and as many people assume, I thought it was a short-term scam. I rejected it. Afterall, I'm an abstract painter who splashes paint all day! The technical / digital crypto world was too foreign for me to bet on.  I liked gold, silver, property, and things I could get my physical hands on… but my friend never gave up on me and continued to explain something I thought I'd never understand.

Well, it turns out, I STILL don't fully understand Bitcoin - just as I don't understand how the internet works - and I'm totally fine with that now. I decided that even if I don't know the "in's and out's" of Bitcoin, I trusted my friend's commitment... and decided to hop on the so-called rocket ship. I didn't care which “seat” I had, I just got on and became obsessed with learning more! Since then, I constantly learn absolutely everything I can and want to share what I know with the world. I still keep in my mind that many people (including my own family!) are skeptical. For years, as I tried to tell them about it, they rejected it and even rolled their eyes, as if I'm trying to sell it to them.

So...how did the art come into play? That dear Bitcoiner friend commissioned me to create my first Bitcoin painting (“A Bit of Bitcoin”). Before it was even finished, a neighbor saw what I was working on and commissioned me for my second Bitcoin piece (“A Bit More Bitcoin”). I seriously thought that would be the end of it. I had no clue that the Bitcoin art world existed.

Someone else who saw these artworks, asked me if I was going to the BTC Prague forum. I reached out to the organizer as an interested artist. He invited me to come and see if that atmosphere was right for me.  Once I arrived, I was hooked. I personally met (and took photos with) all the Bitcoin faces you know—Michael Saylor, Adam Back, Jack Mahler, Mark Moss, Lawrence Leopard, Maddex, Bitcoin Joker, Rockstar Dev, and more! I was very encouraged...and inspired to help the world understand Bitcoin.

Still, I knew the idea would be rejected if I created art that looked too foreign or too "Bitcoiny" to others - I wanted to connect with them so that once they'd see the depth of my commitment to it they'd start to ask questions and begin learning more for themselves. There is no amount of explaining I could do to tell others they should learn about it... but I can inspire them. I can generate curiosity... and so now I create Bitcoin art.  People started to ask questions - which is exactly what I wanted to happen. The point is to ignite conversations and connect with like-minded people.

Soon after, I was invited to the Bitcoin forum in Ingolstadt, Germany, to exhibit my artwork. I was surprised at how many people resonated with my paintings - especially after seeing so many other artworks that looked very technical or digital (so different from mine). But people bought my art because they said they wanted art that was not so obviously "Bitcoin." I think that some people who have had crypto for ages, might want to keep a lower profile now.

Since I started with these Bitcoin activities, some family and friends have begun to ask me about it. That's exactly what I wanted! THEY had to become curious... They see my commitment to it and are starting to understand that this is not going away. I'm inspired to create more and to spark curiosity from others.
Here are some of the faces of Bitcoin. See more photos from the 3rd BTC Forum Ingolstadt, Germany, BTC Prague 2025, and a Gallery of Popko Bitcoin Artwork.
